It’s been said, “Some of our finest work comes through service to others.” The team at Nebraska State Bank & Trust Company of Broken Bow, Nebraska (“NSB”) believes in this mantra, and we put it into practice every day.
The COVID-19 pandemic, however, brought a heightened challenge in finding creative ways to assist the businesses and people within Custer County, where NSB is located. When the pandemic hit Central Nebraska, it became clear that our local businesses were experiencing a huge financial impact as many patrons were either choosing not to venture out, didn’t have the expendable money to shop, or were explicitly shut down in some way by the governor’s directive health measures. NSB rose to the occasion to serve our community in many ways.
*NSB Employees took the lead on the Custer County Cash Back Gift Certificate Program by creating and marketing the program, administering the website, fielding all calls in regards to the program, then organizing and sending out over 4,000 gift certificates, which dispersed $300,000 into our county (community businesses matched 50% of all gift certificates purchased up to $200,000). NSB also donated $10,000 in cash to the cause.
*$500 in local business gift certificates was donated to the Custer County Gift Card Giveaway, a program where gift certificates were purchased by area businesses and individuals to be given away through a social media promotional campaign. This infused each business with much needed cash, with the bonus of the customers potentially purchasing more than what the Gift Card totaled.
*NSB started providing money for branches to organize and purchase meals and snacks for employees as another avenue to support local restaurants.
Even though we feel the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic will continue to be felt for months, if not years, within our community, the team at Nebraska State Bank & Trust Company will continue to show our finest work through continuing to creatively serve the people and businesses our community.
