The year 2018 quickly came to a close at Nebraska State Bank & Trust Company (“NSB”), but instead of talking about year-end profits or an amazing remodeling project at its main branch in Broken Bow, the employees wanted to talk about the amazing Year of Giving they’ve experienced.
NSB employees’ sincere desire to give back to the community and surrounding towns is demonstrated clearly by the donations from them for the bank’s “Jeans Fund”. After tallying the numbers, Jean Funds Coordinator, Rebel Hunt discovered that NSB employees donated a total of $4,250.00 for this specific fund throughout 2018.
Ms. Hunt, who is a Universal Banker for NSB, explains, “Each week, the employees each contribute $5.00 in order to wear jeans on Friday, calling it the ‘Jeans Fund’. This is completely voluntary, and run on the honor system; no employee is required to participate, and their individual donations aren’t necessarily monitored. At the end of the month, the bank chooses an area charity or organization to receive the funds. I’m proud to say that the “Jeans Fund” isn’t supplemented by the bank – the fund is 100% employee-donated.”
Local and area fire departments, schools, libraries and food pantries are just a few who received donations in 2018, along with various area children’s charities. Ms. Hunt states that 2018 is not the first year the employees at NSB have been contributing to the “Jeans Fund”. In fact, the project began in 2013 and has raised a total of $19,485.00.
NSB President and CEO, Stuart Fox, states, “I’m proud NSB employees want to give back to the communities we serve. The “Jeans Fund” is just one of the many community-minded activities our employees and bank supports, and we are happy to be so involved.”
